For an early- or growth-stage company, the traditional mechanics of recruitment frequently break down. Founders are forced to choose between legacy, bureaucratic HR frameworks that slow down momentum, or hyper-reactive agencies that fill seats without building internal capability.
KovaCo. is a talent strategy practice designed for the space between: we help founders build foundational hiring systems, run critical senior searches, and engineer talent infrastructure that compounds as the business grows.
The Intersection of Strategy and Operational Reality
The practice was founded by Adrienne Kovacs, whose perspective sits at a rare intersection: fifteen years navigating some of the most complex institutional hiring environments in British Columbia, alongside the real-world experience of building a company from the ground up.
Adrienne entered the recruitment space through the University of British Columbia, later completing a post-graduate designation in Human Resources Management to master the structured mechanics of workforce planning, assessment data, and organizational design.
However, her understanding of talent fundamentally changed when she became an operator herself.
As the founder of Locum Home Inc., a specialized workforce housing platform serving healthcare professionals, she experienced the acute pressures of scaling a lean business. She validated the market, acquired the initial infrastructure, and successfully headhunted her own co-founder to join the vision before formally registering the BC Incorporation.
Building a business while advising others on talent erased the division between theoretical HR and operational truth. It proved that growing companies do not need rigid, administrative policies; they need clear data, repeatable decision frameworks, and an aggressive focus on alignment. KovaCo. is where those two worlds converge.
Tested Under Complexity
To build talent architecture that survives rapid scaling, systems must first be stress-tested where the margins for error are thinnest.
Adrienne spent more than a decade designing and steering recruitment infrastructure across Western Canada's most high-volume, highly regulated, and high-stakes sectors:
- System Scale: Directing international pipeline strategies and executive recruitment for critical medical leadership roles across expansive geographic footprints.
- Structural Alignment: Developing structured, objective hiring systems for public healthcare, post-secondary institutions, and Indigenous-led organizations — environments where compliance, bias elimination, and long-term retention are paramount.
- Data Architecture: Replacing recruitment intuition with rigorous analytics. Adrienne builds data structures and live pipeline dashboards that reveal precisely where a company's hiring process creates drag, allowing founders to make talent decisions based on metrics rather than guesswork.
Strategic Interventions
We work with founders and people leaders to build talent capability before growth exposes the lack of it. The practice engages across three specific pillars:
- 01 — Audit: A structured, objective review of how your company currently hires to locate where decisions break down and where process creates operational drag.
- 02 — Build: Designing the custom hiring capability your team will run long-term, including structured interview frameworks, candidate scorecards, and employer positioning.
- 03 — Advise: Ongoing strategic guidance for founders navigating organizational changes, scaling thresholds, or high-stakes leadership decisions.
Senior and specialized executive searches are also undertaken as standalone strategic engagements.
On equity & accessibility
Equitable hiring isn't a service line at KovaCo. — it's a default. I bring ongoing training in Indigenous Cultural Safety, direct experience designing recruitment for an Indigenous-led organization expanding across BC, and a working understanding of how to build hiring systems that are accessible by design rather than retrofitted later.
The companies I partner with are ones that take this seriously. The ones that don't, won't be a fit.
